8 Essential Haircare Tips to Remember on Busy Lifestyle

If your daily routine is causing hair loss or thinning, it's time to make a change. Great hair begins with excellent hair care habits. Follow these simple tips to avoid dull, dry, and unhealthy strands:

Shampoo for Strength

Using a sulfate-free shampoo daily, or at least every other day, is one of the most important steps in keeping your hair healthy. Sulfates, which are detergents found in many shampoos, can weaken hair follicles over time, causing breakage and the appearance of thinning. Sulfates should be avoided if you have color-treated hair because they can strip the pigment from your strands. Sulfate-free shampoos gently cleanse your hair and scalp, removing excess sebum and debris to create the ideal environment for healthy hair growth.

Don't Forget the Conditioner

Conditioning your hair after every shampooing is also essential. To keep your hair smooth and shiny, use a leave-in conditioner once a week. Look for a deep conditioning mask or create your own with one of these do-it-yourself recipes.

Not Every Brush Is Created Equal

Using the right brush for your hair type can make a big difference in its health. To add volume and shine to fine or thinning hair, use a brush with boar bristles. A synthetic fibre brush is the best choice for textured or curly hair because it is more flexible and helps you detangle without damaging your hair.

Try to avoid heat whenever possible

While everyone loves their hot styling tools like blow dryers, hot rollers, and flat irons, skipping the heat a few times a week is the best way to avoid split ends. Your favourite tools' high temperatures can weaken and damage your hair, resulting in breakage and dull, dry strands. Use a heat protectant spray on days when you can't live without your hot tools.

Reduce Breakage

There are several things you can do to help reduce hair breakage. If you have long hair, avoid pulling it back frequently, and when you do, use a gentle hair tie. You could also try blotting your hair with a soft t-shirt after your shower instead of rubbing or wringing it dry with a towel. Wet hair is fragile and prone to breaking, so when detangling, use a wide tooth comb beginning at the ends and working your way up to the roots.

Eat a Hair-Healthy Diet

Diet can play an important role in achieving healthier, thicker hair. Because your hair is mostly protein, eating protein-rich foods is a good way to keep it strong. Taking a multivitamin is also recommended because vitamin deficiencies can result in hair loss.

Sun Protection for Your Hair

In addition to fading color-treated hair, the sun can cause it to dry out and become brittle. Purchase a hat to wear when spending time outside. If you're lounging by the pool, apply a leave-in conditioner and pull your hair back into a loose bun. You'll benefit from a deep conditioning treatment as well as UV protection for your hair.

Get Regular Haircuts

You may be tempted to skip a trim in order to encourage your hair to grow faster. However, this can result in more split ends and breakage. Even if you want to grow your hair longer, you should have it trimmed every 6-8 weeks.

Wash your scalp whenever you notice it is oily or dirty. If this is a frequent problem, make it a habit to wash your hair every other day with a mild nourishing shampoo. This keeps our hair shafts clean and dust out of our scalp, lowering our chances of hair loss.
